One of my favorite last scenes in a Hindi movie is from the film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro!

Penultimate scene:
The long hand of the law has caught up with the bad guys. Naseer and Ravi are discussing what they are going to do with the money that they will get as a prize. The expressions on their faces reflect the elation and pride they are feeling for having done yeomen service to the nation! At this point the audience is happy that justice has been meted out, as it always is at the end of a Hindi movie, whether it is a comedy or a tragedy!

Cut to the next scene:
The friends are shown walking on the streets wearing the standard striped jail clothes. The expression of helpless incredulousness on their faces says it all. Its as if they are thinking aloud for the audience..."How did I even think that justice would prevail?"
Ironically the song “Hum Honge Kaamyab” is playing in the background! They head towards a pair of gallows hanging in the middle of nowhere, and symbolically hang themselves!
