Even as I write this post, the Congress seems well on its way to for a government at the centre. There are a couple of things in my mind which I would like to pen down.
*Film stars and media personalities seem to be winning everywhere. Thus in the first truly electronic elections, it is the people who are constantly on the waves who are winning! Did anyone say that development has become an isue with the voters?
*The good thing is that Govinda is winning, that means the oil ministry is finally out of the hands of Ram Naik. Finally, we can see some real progress in the oil sector reforms.
*Als,o this seems to be curtains for the political career of some BJP stalwarts:
A B Vajpayee - I dont think he will be actively around after 5 years. Even though he did a good job, I think there is a need for BJP to look for younger leaders. This loss will atleast result in that recast at the top in the BJP.
M M Joshi - he is lagging behind in Allahabad as of now. Thankfully for India, he will now be relegated to the background in National politics.
Ram Naik - he was disastrous as an oil minister, so it is all for the good
*I am now becoming very curious about how effective will a surprised and unprepared Congress be in actually running the government and not cribbing from the sidelines.
